Are you considering relocating to Baton Rouge?

One of the first questions I am asked when someone is relocating to Baton Rouge is; Where are the best schools located?  Baton Rouge and the surround areas have many options when considering school choices.  We have plenty of choices with public, private, magnet, charter as well as gifted and talented schools.    Although public and private schools have been around for as long as I can remember, some of the choices that are gaining popularity are charter, magnet and gifted and talented schools.  Let's talk about these three types a little bit.

Charter Schools

Charter schools are designed to create new public schools in response to community needs.  These schools are accountable for their academic results and upholding the promises made in their charters.  If a charter school  fails to improve, the EBRPSS can step in and as a last resort, close the school.  Attached is a link to more charter schools information.  https://ebrschools.org/schools/charter-schools

Magnet Programs

Magnet Programs offer an innovative, theme-based learning in grades K-12 designed to spark the interest of the child.  There are over 23 programs in East Baton Rouge that provide unique experiences in areas such as STEM, Montessory, foreign language immersion, pre-law, digital arts and technology, visual and performing arts, entrepreneurship, pre-medicine and pre-engineering.  http://ebrmagnet.org/programs

Gifted and Talented Programs

Students who tests as Gifted, an instructional program is designed to support the student's unique gifts and talents.  Gifted and Talented classes are much smaller to specialize on the student's individual talents.  There is also a Talented Arts Program for students who have been identified as Talented in visual art, music or theatre.  https://ebrschools.org/gt/
